In partnership with Semmelweis University in Hungary, the Master of Science degree program in Applied Systemic Psychology offers training in family systems theory which is a cornerstone of the professional practice of couple and family therapy. Graduates of this dual program will receive a MSc degree from both Wheaton College and Semmelweis University so that their training is recognized in both the US and the EU. Course locations vary between Wheaton's campus, Semmelweis's campus, and online. This program is distinct from the Wheaton College M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy and is NOT accredited by Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). Graduates will be trained from a distinctly Christian perspective and will be prepared to assess, diagnose and treat individuals, couples, families, and groups as master’s-level marriage and family therapists.
Wheaton College students wishing to pursue the Dual Degree program shall complete and file an application with Semmelweis. Semmelweis University students wishing to pursue the Dual Degree program shall complete and file an application with Wheaton and choose the “Integration of Christian Pastoral Counselling Approach into Systemic Psychology Interventions” track (15 US credit/30 EU credit) at the Semmelweis University Master’s program.
Admission decisions will be made in accordance with the procedures followed at each institution including both academic and language requirements.
The Applied Systemic Psychology M.S. requires 60 credits, including 33 credits taught by Wheaton Faculty and 27 credits transferred from Semmelweis University.
