In addition, the major requires at least one-month of study abroad in Germany either by participating in the Wheaton-in-Germany program (GERM 343 German Cultural Identity from Charlemagne to the Berlin Republic) or by completing an equivalent semester abroad program (at least 4 hours of which must be an upper-level course taken in German) with an accredited academic institution in either Germany, Austria, or Switzerland to be arranged and approved through the Global and Experiential Learning (GEL) Division at Wheaton in consultation with the Modern and Classical Languages Department.
